Problem:

UNICEF estimates that >700 children die globally every day due to diarrhoeal diseases transmitted primarily via faecally contaminated water, while water consumed by >2 billion people has not been tested for fecal contaminations. In Nepal alone >8,000 children die every year due to water-borne diseases, with >80% of population lacking safe drinking water. Lack of low-cost and rapid water surveillance methodologies is one of the major bottlenecks to address this issue. Prevalent methodologies are impractical to implement in the developing countries like Nepal, as they require laboratory infrastructure and/or an incubation period of 24-48 hours.

Our solution:

A reagentless system, based on our unique ”optical engine” working in the deep-UV, to detect fecal contamination in water based on native fluorescence of proteins, mainly those containing Tryptophan and Tyrosine amino acids typically synthesized by the fecal coliforms.

Our solution packaged with automated Chlorine disinfection:

We have been developing an automatic measurement and disinfection which will take the results of the measurement of our system to control the dose of chlorination.

Nano3D: Imaging And Flexures

Nano3D imaging and flexures can be ordered from our marketing and sales partner Nabla-cubed Innovation Pvt Ltd.

Problem:

Nanotechnology has been driving several innovations of the modern era from lighting, displays and communications to modern sensing, electronics, computing and quantum technologies. However, research and development in nanotechnologies are prohibitively costly - unsurprisingly -  because these activities require instruments with nanometer-scale precision. Low-cost imaging and positioning systems  is a key for developing countries to take part in this key driver of innovations. Our solution: We have developed a low-cost  imaging and positioning system with sub-micron precision which uses 3D-printed flexures for motion control and white-light interferometry for 3-D imaging.
