ENGAGEMENTS

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
– Nelson Mandela

Science and innovation is the foundation of a peaceful and prosperous society. Developing societies often lag behind in science literacy. There are reasons to argue that enhancing science literacy leads to development - economic or social. A society lagging in science literacy invests little in science – continuing the vicious cycle of science-illiteracy and underdevelopment. One of our important missions is to enhance science literacy through public engagement (including school children, university students and citizens), citizen science, policy advocacy and world-wide partnership.

Engagement with school children, students and citizens

We have partnered with Engage Nepal With Science, Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology and Nepal Optica Local Section, to organize following public engagement activities focused on school children and citizens, , two times a year:

Citizen Science

“Know your water” workshops to let citizens measure their own water samples, to provide information about water-borne diseases.

Policy Advocacy

PRI has played an important role in the development of Nepal’s National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2018, and in developing its implementation plan as a member of the committees setup by the Government of Nepal’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
